GEA Registration Terms & Conditions
1. Enrollment Policy
a) Registration Fee & Accommodation Fee are non-refundable
b) Minimum age of enrollment is 18 years but those who are under 18 years can enroll for one-on-one classes and special group classes.
c) Course fee is due immediately when start date of the course commences
d) Upon registration all students must sign the Student Declaration to indicate that they are in agreement with Global English Academy’s terms & conditions
e) Should a student’s sponsor cancel the sponsorship, the student will be liable for the settlement of outstanding course fees
f) Payment of registration fee must occur for student to receive acceptance letter & student number
g) It is the student’s responsibility to book their course far enough in advance to meet any necessary visa requirements. A course enrollment may be postponed when waiting for a visa to be issued if a request is made at least one week (7 days) before the course start date. Delays over one month (30 days) after the start date will result in a penalty of 25% of the course fee for administration purposes.
2. Refund Policy
a) Cancellation must be applied for in writing 2 weeks (14 days) before the course start date
b) On successful application, the course fee amount will be refunded excluding the registration fee, and 25% of the course fee for admin costs, within a month (30days). It will be deposited to the student, parent, guardian or sponsor’s valid bank account.
c) Cancellations made due to visa refusal will result in a charge of 25% of course Fee for administration costs. No refund of course fees can be made until the school has confirmed the visa refusal is genuine. The student must give the School the original notice of refusal from the South African Embassy or Consulate. If a student is dismissed for poor attendance or misconduct, no refund will be issued.
d) No refunds will be issued to any students who shortens their courses or reduces their number of lessons after their course has begun. Students may not shorten their courses and take extra lessons in replacement nor can they replace their classes with one-on-one lessons once they have enrolled for a course. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure their return date allows enough time to complete their course, especially where holidays taken have extended their end date
e) Students who submit false information on their visa application resulting in a refusal by VFS or South African Home Affairs will not be entitled to a refund on any course fees they have paid.
f) Periods of absence due to accident or sickness are not refundable.
a) No cash payments are to be made directly to individuals over the counter for registration fee or course fee. All course payments must be deposited into the institutions bank account (show deposit slips as proof of payment)
b) Course material can be purchased in cash or by debit card from over the counter
c) The extra-curricular activities can also be paid for in cash or by debit card
d) Students must produce deposit slip or proof of payment of registration fee to be accepted to study a course
4. Returning Students
a) If student returns to study in another course then the student does not need to pay registration fee.
a) The school expects every student to be on time, attend every lesson and do all their assignments.
b) Students that are absent for more than 4 days in a week must provide a doctors certificate or letter.
c) If a student misses a lesson, regardless of the reason, the school cannot give a refund or allow that student to take the lesson at another time.
d) If a student is absent for 8 consecutive days or more, or is repeatedly absent (e.g. 1 or 2 days per week), without authorisation, they will be reported to Home Affairs or VFS if they are an international student with a VISA, and to their sponsor if they are a sponsored student, and they may be asked to leave the school.
e) A letter of release is granted if their attendance has been 80% or more, to qualify to write the exams, the students must at least have 80% attendance
